Thursday 8 OctoberAfter a few weeks off and a bit of time to reflect on these sessions, our first open chat of the autumn looked at communication, time and magic.
Equatorial dial, brass, made by Johan Georg Vogler, Germany, 1700-1750, 1922.1203. Rolling fob seal, brass, with engraved facets, British, c.1800, 1922.1502. Objects chosen (and drawn) by Haroon. |
Curious contraptions, measurement, hidden messages and the hugeness of the universe today. Favourite times of day and the 'in-between' moments of dusk and dawn, spring and autumn, sunshine after rain. Deciphering the back to front lettering on a tiny rolling stamp, the size of an ear-ring, that carries messages of hope and acceptance. 'Such is life'. 'We may be happy yet'. Strangely appropriate to the times we are living in.
