During the summer of 2021, artist duo Harriet Hall and Maura McKee (aka Interference Art) created a pop-up museum for Platt Hall that we could use to get to know people in the neighbourhood and find out what matters to them.
Museum on My Street, our museum-on-a-bike packed with curious objects, made its debut appearance on local street corners on two Saturday afternoons in late summer. We had some wonderful conversations, discussed thoughts and feelings about the neighbourhood, and shared objects both familiar and strange. We also asked the question 'what is special to you?'. Below is a selection of objects shared with us by the people of Brunt Street and Holford Avenue. Part of an extended collection of things that matter locally, amongst which the Platt Hall collection sits. Museum on My Street marks the start of the longer term exploration of what the Platt Hall collection means in this local context, how it connects with local values, and how we might collect in the future. We would like to thank all the residents for their generosity in sharing their stories and their street. |
I've had this for 15 years. I love it and keep patching it up with tape to keep it going." |
